2Sum (2g) Injection is a broad-spectrum antibiotic used for the treatment of severe bacterial infections. It is commonly prescribed in hospital settings for infections caused by susceptible bacteria, including respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, abdominal infections, and septicemia. It works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, thereby stopping bacterial growth and spread.

Surgical infection prophylaxis
Adults: Usually 1–2g once daily, or divided into two doses, depending on the severity of infection.
Severe cases: Up to 4g per day.
Children & Neonates: Dose adjusted by weight and infection severity, as per doctor’s advice.

Symptoms may include seizures, confusion, or severe gastrointestinal upset. Seek immediate emergency medical care.
If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double dose.
Powder must be reconstituted with sterile water or appropriate diluent before administration.
Administered intramuscularly (IM) or intravenously (IV) by a healthcare professional.
Do not self-administer.
Avoid using 2Sum if you have:
Allergy to ceftriaxone, other cephalosporins, or penicillins
History of severe hypersensitivity reactions to beta-lactam antibiotics
Neonates with hyperbilirubinemia (risk of kernicterus)
Common side effects may include:
Pain or swelling at injection site
Diarrhea, nausea, or vomiting
Rash or allergic reactions
Headache or dizziness
Serious side effects (seek immediate medical help):
Severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis)
Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea
Seizures (in case of high doses or overdose)
Use with caution in patients with kidney or liver impairment.
Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Prolonged use may cause superinfections.
Avoid mixing with calcium-containing IV solutions in neonates.
May interact with:
Calcium-containing solutions (contraindicated in neonates)
Aminoglycosides (increased risk of kidney damage)
Oral anticoagulants (warfarin – may increase bleeding risk)
Store below 25°C, in a dry place.
Protect from light and moisture.
After reconstitution, use immediately or as per manufacturer’s instructions.
Dispose of unused vials safely via medical waste programs.
Not a controlled substance.
Effective against a wide range of serious bacterial infections.
Must be administered under medical supervision only.
Do not discontinue treatment early, even if symptoms improve.
Report any signs of severe diarrhea or allergy immediately.
