Dermovate (0.05%) 20g Ointment

Dermovate Ointment contains clobetasol propionate 0.05%, a very potent topical corticosteroid used to treat severe inflammatory skin conditions. It helps reduce redness, itching, swelling, and irritation associated with eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, and other stubborn skin disorders that do not respond to weaker corticosteroids. The ointment base provides an occlusive effect, making it suitable for very dry or thickened skin areas.

Uses

Dosage
Apply a thin layer to the affected area once or twice daily as prescribed by a doctor. Treatment duration should not exceed 2 consecutive weeks unless directed by a healthcare professional. Use the minimum amount necessary to control symptoms.

In Case of Overdose
Topical overdose is uncommon, but prolonged or excessive application may lead to systemic corticosteroid absorption, potentially causing adrenal suppression or Cushing’s syndrome. If symptoms like fatigue, weight gain, or swelling occur, seek medical attention immediately.

Missed Dose
Apply the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it’s nearly time for the next dose, skip the missed one. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed application.

How To Use

1. Wash and dry the affected skin before application.

2. Apply a small amount and gently rub until absorbed.

3. Do not use under airtight dressings unless advised by a doctor.

4. Avoid applying on broken skin, open wounds, or mucous membranes.

5. Wash hands thoroughly after application.

When Not to Use

• If allergic to clobetasol or any ingredient in the ointment

• On untreated bacterial, fungal, or viral skin infections (e.g., acne, rosacea, herpes, chickenpox)

• On the face, groin, or underarms unless directed by a physician

• In children under 12 years without medical supervision

Side Effects

• Burning, itching, irritation, or dryness at the site of application

• Skin thinning or stretch marks with long-term use

• Acne-like eruptions or increased hair growth

• Changes in skin pigmentation

• Rarely, systemic side effects like weight gain or fatigue from prolonged use
