Xefecta (400mg) 5 Tablets

Xefecta 400mg Tablets contain Moxifloxacin Hydrochloride, a broad-spectrum antibiotic belonging to the fluoroquinolone class. It is used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections, including those of the respiratory tract, skin, and urinary tract. Xefecta works by inhibiting bacterial DNA replication, effectively stopping the growth and spread of bacteria. It is not effective against viral infections such as the flu or common cold.

Uses
Xefecta 400mg Tablets are used to treat:

• Community-acquired pneumonia

• Acute bacterial sinusitis

• Chronic bronchitis (bacterial exacerbations)

• Skin and soft tissue infections

• Urinary tract infections (UTIs)

• Intra-abdominal infections

• Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID)

Dosage

• Adults: 400mg once daily with or without food, as prescribed by your doctor.

• Duration: Usually 5–14 days depending on infection type and severity.

• Do not exceed the recommended dose.

In Case of Overdose

• Symptoms: Dizziness, confusion, nausea, vomiting, or seizures.

• Contact your doctor or visit the nearest emergency room immediately.

Missed Dose

• Take the missed dose as soon as you remember.

• If it’s almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one.

• Do not double the dose to make up for a missed tablet.

How To Use

1. Take one tablet daily with a full glass of water.

2. Can be taken with or without food.

3. Avoid taking with dairy products or calcium-fortified juices alone, as they may reduce absorption.

4. Continue the full course even if you feel better — stopping early can cause bacterial resistance.

When Not to Use
Do not use Xefecta if you:

• Are allergic to Moxifloxacin or any other quinolone antibiotic (like Ciprofloxacin or Levofloxacin).

• Have a history of tendon disorders related to quinolone use.

• Have heart rhythm disorders (QT prolongation).

• Are pregnant or breastfeeding (unless prescribed by a doctor).

• Have severe liver disease.

Side Effects

• Antacids containing aluminum, magnesium, or calcium — take at least 4 hours apart.

• Antiarrhythmic drugs (like amiodarone, quinidine) — may increase heart rhythm risk.

• NSAIDs (like ibuprofen) — may increase the risk of central nervous system effects.
