Provas (1g/100ml) IV Infusion contains Tranexamic Acid, an antifibrinolytic agent that helps control and prevent excessive bleeding by stabilizing blood clots. It is commonly used in surgical procedures, trauma, heavy menstrual bleeding, postpartum hemorrhage, and other bleeding disorders where clot stabilization is required.
Active Ingredient: Tranexamic Acid 1g (per 100ml infusion)
Excipients: Sterile water, stabilizers, and buffers
Antifibrinolytic Agent
Hemostatic
Intravenous Infusion
Strength: 1g/100ml per vial
Control of bleeding in major surgeries (e.g., cardiac, liver, orthopedic)
Management of trauma-related hemorrhage
Treatment of postpartum hemorrhage
Control of heavy menstrual bleeding (menorrhagia)
Treatment and prevention of hereditary angioedema attacks
Prevention of bleeding in hemophilia patients undergoing dental extractions
💉 Typical Adult Dose (IV Infusion):
1g infused slowly IV over 10–20 minutes (not faster than 1ml/min)
Repeat as needed depending on bleeding severity
Maximum doses depend on patient’s condition and physician’s guidance
⚠️ Pediatric and elderly dosages should be adjusted under medical supervision.
Symptoms: Hypotension, dizziness, nausea, visual disturbances, seizures (rare)
Management: Supportive care, airway maintenance, seizure control if required
In hospital, the healthcare team will adjust timing if a dose is missed.
Do not double dose to make up for a missed infusion.
Administered only by a healthcare professional via IV infusion
Infuse slowly to prevent hypotension or dizziness
Duration and frequency depend on the severity and site of bleeding
Known hypersensitivity to tranexamic acid
Patients with active intravascular clotting (DVT, PE, arterial thrombosis)
History of seizures (use cautiously)
Severe renal impairment without dosage adjustment
Common:
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea
Hypotension (if infused too rapidly)
Headache, dizziness
Serious (rare):
Seizures
Vision changes (color perception disturbance)
Thromboembolic events (deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, stroke)
Use cautiously in patients with renal impairment – dose adjustment required
Avoid in patients with a history of thrombosis or clotting disorders
Monitor for visual disturbances during prolonged therapy
Risk of seizures with high IV doses
Not recommended for use in patients with subarachnoid hemorrhage due to risk of cerebral ischemia
Estrogen-containing contraceptives → Increased risk of clot formation
Anticoagulants (e.g., warfarin, heparin) → Antagonistic effects
Tretinoin (oral, for APL treatment) → May increase risk of clotting
Combination with other pro-coagulant agents increases thrombotic risk
