Description

Basagine (100IU/ml) Injection contains Insulin Glargine, a long-acting human insulin analog used to control high blood sugar levels in patients with diabetes mellitus (Type 1 and Type 2). It provides steady 24-hour blood glucose control with once-daily dosing and helps reduce the risk of diabetes-related complications such as kidney damage, nerve damage, blindness, and heart disease.

Dosage

⚠️ Dosage is individualized based on blood sugar monitoring, diet, and doctor’s recommendation.

• Adults & Children (≥6 years): Usually once daily, at the same time each day.

• Can be used in combination with mealtime (short-acting) insulin or oral antidiabetics.

In Case of Overdose

• Symptoms: Severe hypoglycemia (sweating, dizziness, confusion, tremors, fainting, seizures).

• Management: Immediate oral glucose (sugar, juice) if conscious. Severe cases require IV glucose or glucagon injection in hospital.

Missed Dose

• Take the missed dose as soon as remembered if within the same day.

• If it’s almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one.

• Do not double dose. Always consult your doctor if multiple doses are missed.

How To Use

• Inject subcutaneously (under the skin) in the thigh, upper arm, or abdomen.

• Rotate injection sites to prevent lipodystrophy (fat tissue changes).

• Do not inject into a vein or muscle.

• Must be used under medical supervision with regular blood glucose monitoring.

When Not to Use / Contraindications

• Allergy to insulin glargine or any excipient

• Episodes of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar)

• Hyperglycemia risk increases with: Corticosteroids, oral contraceptives, thyroid hormones, diuretics, sympathomimetics

Storage / Disposal

• Store in a refrigerator at 2°C – 8°C. Do not freeze.

• Once opened, can be kept at room temperature (below 25°C) for up to 28 days.

• Keep away from direct heat and sunlight.

• Safely dispose of used vials, needles, and syringes in sharps containers.
