Lonacort Injection contains Triamcinolone Acetonide, a corticosteroid used for its strong anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, and immunosuppressive properties. It is administered by injection to treat severe allergies, arthritis, joint pain, skin conditions, and other inflammatory disorders that are not adequately controlled with oral medications.

Lonacort is used in the treatment of:
Rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis (joint pain, inflammation)

Adults (IM use): 40 mg as a single injection; may repeat at intervals depending on condition.
Intra-articular / intralesional: 5–40 mg depending on size of joint or lesion.
Children: Dose adjusted by body weight and medical need.
Treatment duration should be kept as short as possible.
Symptoms: Cushing’s syndrome, high blood sugar, electrolyte imbalance, increased infection risk.
Management: Symptomatic treatment, gradual dose tapering — do not abruptly stop long-term use.
Take as soon as remembered if scheduled.
Do not double dose — wait for next scheduled injection.

Long-term use may cause adrenal suppression — taper off gradually.
Monitor blood pressure, blood sugar, and bone health during therapy.
Use with caution in diabetes, hypertension, peptic ulcer disease, infections, and osteoporosis.
Avoid exposure to infections like chickenpox or measles.
NSAIDs (e.g., ibuprofen, aspirin): ↑ risk of GI bleeding/ulcers.
Diuretics: ↑ risk of electrolyte imbalance.
Antidiabetic drugs: Reduced effectiveness.
Live vaccines: Contraindicated due to suppressed immune response.
Cytochrome P450 inducers (e.g., rifampicin, phenytoin): May reduce steroid efficacy.
Store at below 25°C, protect from light.
Do not freeze.
Keep out of reach of children.
Dispose of unused/expired vials properly — do not flush in wastewater.
