Velosef (Cefalexin) 1g Injection is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that belongs to the cephalosporin class. It works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, effectively killing bacteria and treating a wide range of infections. Velosef is commonly used to treat respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin infections, bone/joint infections, and septicemia.
This pack contains 1 vial (1g Cefalexin powder for injection), to be reconstituted and administered under medical supervision via intramuscular (IM) or intravenous (IV) injection.

Velosef is prescribed for the treatment of:
Respiratory tract infections (pneumonia, bronchitis, pharyngitis)
Urinary tract infections (cystitis, pyelonephritis)
Skin and soft tissue infections
Bone and joint infections (osteomyelitis)
Septicemia and endocarditis
ENT infections (sinusitis, otitis media, tonsillitis)
Adults: Usual dose 500mg to 1g every 6–12 hours, depending on infection severity.
Severe infections: Up to 6g/day in divided doses.
Children: Dose adjusted according to body weight (strictly under doctor’s supervision).
Dose and duration must be decided by the physician.
Symptoms: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, seizures (rare in severe overdose).
Treatment: Supportive therapy, symptomatic management, and possible dialysis in severe cases.
If a dose is missed, administer as soon as remembered.
If next scheduled dose is near, skip missed dose—do not double dose.
Reconstitute the vial with sterile water for injection or IV fluid as instructed.
Administer via deep IM injection or slow IV injection/infusion.
Must be given by a doctor, nurse, or trained healthcare professional.
Known allergy to Cefalexin, other cephalosporins, or penicillin antibiotics
History of severe hypersensitivity reactions (anaphylaxis)
Patients with severe kidney disease (unless dose-adjusted by doctor)
Common:
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea
Injection site pain/swelling
Headache, dizziness
Serious (seek medical help):
Severe allergic reactions (rash, swelling, difficulty breathing)

Seizures (rare, in high doses or renal impairment)
Use with caution in renal impairment; dose adjustment may be required
Long-term use may cause secondary infections (fungal/yeast)
Use with caution in patients with gastrointestinal disorders (colitis history)
Elderly patients may require dose adjustment
Safe use in pregnancy and breastfeeding should be confirmed by physician
Aminoglycosides – increased risk of kidney toxicity
Anticoagulants (Warfarin) – may increase bleeding risk
Probenecid – increases Cefalexin concentration by reducing clearance
Other nephrotoxic drugs – additive renal risk
Store at below 25°C, away from moisture and sunlight
Keep out of reach of children
Reconstituted solution should be used immediately or as per label instructions
Dispose of unused medication via hospital/clinic waste protocols
