Insuget R contains Regular Human Insulin (100 IU/ml), a short-acting insulin preparation used to control blood glucose in patients with diabetes mellitus. It helps lower blood sugar by facilitating cellular uptake of glucose and is typically administered subcutaneously before meals.
Active ingredient: Regular Human Insulin 100 IU/ml
Excipients: Glycerol, metacresol, zinc chloride, sodium phosphate buffer, and water for injection
Antidiabetic agent
Short-acting human insulin preparation
Injectable solution in 10ml multidose vial
For subcutaneous (SC) or intravenous (IV) use (under medical supervision)
Management of Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus
Management of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (when oral antidiabetic agents are inadequate)
Emergency management of diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) and hyperosmolar hyperglycemic state (HHS) (IV use under hospital care)
Perioperative and hospital glucose control
Individualized based on patient’s blood glucose levels, dietary habits, and physician’s recommendation
Usually administered 30 minutes before meals
May be used alone or in combination with intermediate/long-acting insulins
Typical starting dose: 0.2–0.5 IU/kg/day (split into multiple injections)
Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) is the most common effect
Symptoms: Sweating, tremors, palpitations, headache, confusion, seizures, loss of consciousness
Management: Oral glucose (mild), IV glucose or glucagon injection (severe cases)
If a meal is delayed or skipped, insulin dose should not be taken
Do not double the dose — take the next dose as advised by your doctor
Wash hands and prepare injection site (abdomen, thigh, or upper arm)
Use a sterile insulin syringe or pen device
Inject subcutaneously about 30 minutes before meals
Rotate injection sites to avoid lipodystrophy
For IV use — only under strict hospital supervision
Hypoglycemia (do not inject when blood sugar is already low)
Allergy to human insulin or excipients
Caution in patients with kidney or liver impairment
Common:
Injection site reactions (pain, redness, swelling)
Hypoglycemia
Weight gain
Rare/Serious:
Severe hypoglycemia with loss of consciousness or seizures
Allergic reactions (rash, swelling, difficulty breathing)
Lipodystrophy at injection site
Regular monitoring of blood glucose is essential
Dose may need adjustment in cases of illness, surgery, or stress
Avoid alcohol as it increases the risk of hypoglycemia
Pregnancy & lactation: Safe under medical guidance, but dose adjustments may be needed
Caution with heavy exercise — can increase insulin sensitivity
Increased hypoglycemia risk: Oral antidiabetics, beta-blockers, ACE inhibitors, sulfonamides, alcohol
Reduced insulin effect: Corticosteroids, thiazide diuretics, thyroid hormones, oral contraceptives
Beta-blockers may mask hypoglycemia warning symptoms
Store at 2–8°C (refrigerated), do not freeze
