Mofest IV Infusion contains Moxifloxacin, a broad-spectrum fourth-generation fluoroquinolone antibiotic. It works by inhibiting bacterial DNA replication, making it effective against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including drug-resistant strains. It is widely used in hospitals for respiratory, skin, intra-abdominal, and complicated infections when oral therapy is not possible.

💉 Adult Dose (IV Infusion):
400mg once daily via IV infusion
Infusion time: 60 minutes minimum
Duration: 5–14 days, depending on infection type
⚠️ Dose adjustment may be required in hepatic impairment.
Symptoms: QT prolongation, dizziness, nausea, seizures
Management: Supportive care, ECG monitoring, hydration
Hemodialysis not effective in eliminating moxifloxacin
Administer as soon as remembered if within a short time
If next dose is near, skip missed dose
Do not double the infusion dose
Administer via slow IV infusion over 60 minutes
Do not give as rapid IV injection or IM injection
Ensure proper hydration during treatment
Must be prescribed and monitored by a healthcare professional
Hypersensitivity to moxifloxacin or other quinolones
Patients with QT prolongation or cardiac arrhythmias
Concurrent use with drugs prolonging QT interval
Children, adolescents, pregnant or breastfeeding women (safety not established)
Patients with severe hepatic impairment
Common:
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea
Headache, dizziness
Injection site reactions
Serious:
Tendonitis and tendon rupture
QT prolongation → arrhythmias
Central nervous system effects (confusion, seizures)
Peripheral neuropathy
Severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis, Stevens-Johnson syndrome)
Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea
Avoid sun exposure (photosensitivity risk)
Use cautiously in elderly patients
Monitor ECG in cardiac patients
Stop treatment if tendon pain, severe rash, or CNS effects occur
Adjust dose in liver dysfunction
Antiarrhythmics, macrolides, tricyclic antidepressants: Increased QT prolongation risk
NSAIDs: May increase seizure risk
Antacids, iron, zinc supplements: Reduce absorption (avoid co-administration)
Corticosteroids: Higher risk of tendon rupture
Store at below 25°C
Protect from light and freezing
