Novoteph (40mg) IV Injection/Infusion contains Enoxaparin Sodium, a low molecular weight heparin (LMWH). It is widely used as an anticoagulant to prevent and treat blood clots, including deep vein thrombosis (DVT), pulmonary embolism (PE), and clotting risks in hospitalized or post-surgical patients. It works by inhibiting factor Xa, reducing the body’s ability to form harmful clots while preserving normal circulation.
Active Ingredient: Enoxaparin Sodium 40mg
Excipients: Water for injection and stabilizers
Anticoagulant (Low Molecular Weight Heparin – LMWH)
Injection / Infusion (IV/Subcutaneous)
Strength: 40mg
Prevention of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in surgical and medical patients
Prevention of pulmonary embolism (PE)
Treatment of established venous thromboembolism (VTE)
Prevention of clotting in patients on dialysis or with restricted mobility
Part of management in acute coronary syndromes (ACS), including unstable angina and myocardial infarction
💉 Typical Adult Dosage (for prophylaxis):
40mg once daily by subcutaneous injection
For DVT/PE treatment: 1mg/kg every 12 hours or 1.5mg/kg once daily (per physician’s guidance)
⚠️ Dose must be adjusted in patients with renal impairment.
Symptoms: Excessive bleeding, bruising, nosebleeds, blood in urine/stool
Management: Protamine sulfate can partially reverse anticoagulant effects
Supportive treatment with monitoring of coagulation tests
Administer as soon as remembered if within a few hours
Skip if near the next scheduled dose
Do not double dose
Administer by deep subcutaneous injection or as prescribed infusion
Do not inject into muscle
Alternate injection sites to reduce irritation
Only a healthcare professional should administer IV infusion doses
Allergy to enoxaparin, heparin, or pork-derived products
Patients with active major bleeding
History of heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT)
Severe renal impairment without dose adjustment
Recent hemorrhagic stroke or major surgery
Common:
Bruising, pain, redness at injection site
Mild bleeding or nosebleeds
Serious (seek medical help):
Severe bleeding (internal or external)
Low platelet count (HIT)
Allergic reaction: rash, itching, swelling
Spinal/epidural hematoma → risk of paralysis (in patients receiving spinal anesthesia)
Use with caution in patients with renal impairment, peptic ulcer, uncontrolled hypertension, or bleeding disorders
Monitor platelet counts and coagulation profile during therapy
Avoid concurrent use with NSAIDs, aspirin, or other anticoagulants unless prescribed
Inform doctor before surgery or dental procedures
NSAIDs (ibuprofen, diclofenac, naproxen) → Increased bleeding risk
Aspirin, clopidogrel, warfarin → Enhanced anticoagulant effect
Other heparins or anticoagulants → Contraindicated unless directed
