Xalatan (0.005%) 2.5ml Eye Drops

Xalatan Eye Drops contain Latanoprost 0.005%, a prostaglandin analog used to reduce elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with glaucoma or ocular hypertension. It works by increasing the outflow of aqueous humor from the eye, helping to lower pressure and reduce the risk of optic nerve damage.

Inactive Ingredients: Benzalkonium chloride (preservative), sodium chloride, sodium dihydrogen phosphate, disodium phosphate, water for injection, and other excipients.

Uses

• Lowering intraocular pressure in glaucoma

• Management of ocular hypertension

• Helps prevent damage to the optic nerve associated with high IOP

Dosage

• Adults: Instill 1 drop in the affected eye(s) once daily in the evening, or as prescribed by the doctor

• Do not use more than once daily

• Shake gently before use

In case of Overdose

• Symptoms may include temporary eye irritation or redness

• Seek medical attention if excessive use occurs

Missed Dose

• Apply the missed dose as soon as remembered

• If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose

• Do not double the dose

How To Use

1. Wash hands thoroughly before use

2. Tilt head back and pull down the lower eyelid

3. Instill 1 drop into the conjunctival sac

4. Close the eye gently and apply light pressure to the inner corner for 1–2 minutes

5. Avoid touching the dropper tip to the eye

6. Recap the bottle tightly after use

When Not to Use

• Allergy to Latanoprost or any other component of the formulation

• Use with caution in patients with active eye infections

• Avoid use during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless prescribed

Side Effects
Common: Eye redness, itching, burning sensation, increased brown pigmentation of the iris
Less Common: Eyelash growth, eye discomfort
Serious (seek medical help): Vision changes, severe eye pain, signs of infection

• Remove contact lenses before use; wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting

• Monitor for ocular changes or allergic reactions

• Inform your doctor if pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking other medications
