Description:

Drate 70mg Tablets contain Alendronate Sodium, a bisphosphonate medication used to treat and prevent osteoporosis—a condition that weakens bones and increases fracture risk.

Drate works by slowing down bone loss, helping the body to maintain bone density and strength. It’s especially beneficial for postmenopausal women, men with osteoporosis, or individuals taking long-term corticosteroids that can weaken bones.

Regular use of Drate helps reduce the risk of spinal, hip, and other bone fractures, supporting overall bone health.

Ingredients:

Each tablet contains:

• Alendronate Sodium (as Alendronic Acid) – 70 mg

Inactive Ingredients:
Microcrystalline cellulose, lactose, croscarmellose sodium, magnesium stearate, and purified water.

Uses:

Drate is used to:

• Treat and prevent osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and men

• Manage osteoporosis caused by long-term corticosteroid use

• Treat Paget’s disease of bone

• Increase bone density and reduce fracture risk

Dosage:

• Recommended dose: 1 tablet (70 mg) once weekly

• Take the tablet with a full glass of plain water (at least 200 mL) first thing in the morning, before eating, drinking, or taking any other medicine.

• Remain upright (sitting or standing) for at least 30 minutes after swallowing to prevent irritation to the esophagus.

💡 Do not chew or suck the tablet. Swallow whole.

In Case of Overdose:

Symptoms may include low blood calcium, muscle cramps, or stomach discomfort.
👉 Drink a full glass of milk and seek immediate medical attention.
Do not induce vomiting and avoid lying down.

Missed Dose:

• If you miss a weekly dose, take it the next morning after you remember.

• Then return to your original schedule (e.g., same weekday).

• Do not take two tablets on the same day.

How To Use:

1. Take on an empty stomach (only water allowed beforehand).

2. Swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water (200 mL).

3. Stay upright (sit or stand) for at least 30 minutes.

4. Do not lie down, eat, or drink anything else during this time.

5. Follow with your regular breakfast or morning medicines after 30 minutes.

When Not to Use:

Avoid using Drate if you:

• Are allergic to Alendronate Sodium or any component of the tablet

• Have esophageal disorders (e.g., stricture, difficulty swallowing)

• Are unable to sit or stand upright for 30 minutes

• Have low calcium levels (hypocalcemia)

• Have severe kidney disease

• Are pregnant or breastfeeding (unless advised by a doctor)

Side Effects:

Common:

• Heartburn, indigestion

• Nausea or abdominal pain

• Constipation or diarrhea

• Muscle, joint, or bone pain

Less Common but Serious:

• Difficulty swallowing or chest pain

• Severe jaw pain (osteonecrosis of the jaw)

• Eye inflammation

• Severe muscle or bone pain

• Iron or magnesium supplements (take at least 30–60 minutes later)
