Description:

Avorek 50mg Tablets contain Itraconazole, a broad-spectrum antifungal medication used to treat various fungal infections affecting the skin, nails, mouth, throat, and internal organs. It works by stopping the growth of fungi, preventing the spread of infection, and promoting faster healing.

Avorek is highly effective against dermatophytes, yeasts, and molds, and is often prescribed when topical antifungal creams are not sufficient.


Ingredients:

Each film-coated tablet contains:

  • Itraconazole – 50 mg

Inactive ingredients: Microcrystalline cellulose, maize starch, magnesium stearate, and other excipients.

Uses:

Avorek 50mg Tablets are used to treat fungal infections such as:

  • Fungal infections of the skin, nails, and scalp

  • Oral thrush (fungal infection of mouth and throat)

  • Systemic fungal infections (lungs or other organs)

  • Tinea infections (ringworm, athlete’s foot, jock itch)

  • Vaginal candidiasis


Dosage:

  • Adults: Usually 50–200 mg daily, depending on the type and severity of infection.

  • Nail infections: May require longer treatment (up to 3 months or more).

  • Always use as prescribed by your doctor.

Note: Take Avorek after meals for better absorption.


In Case of Overdose:

Symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, dizziness, or liver-related issues.

Missed Dose:

  • Take the missed dose as soon as you remember.

  • If it’s almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one.

  • Do not double up to make up for a missed dose.


How to Use:

  • Take the tablet orally with water after a meal.

  • Swallow whole — do not crush or chew.

  • Take it at the same time each day for best results.

  • Complete the full prescribed course, even if symptoms improve early.


When Not to Use:

Do not use Avorek 50mg if you:

  • Are allergic to Itraconazole or other azole antifungals.

  • Have a history of heart failure or certain heart conditions.

  • Suffer from severe liver disease.

  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding, unless prescribed by a doctor.

  • Are taking medications that strongly interact with itraconazole (see below).


Side Effects:

Common side effects:

  • Abdominal pain, diarrhea

  • Headache, dizziness

  • Mild rash or itching

Serious (rare) side effects – seek medical help immediately:

  • Signs of liver problems (yellowing of eyes/skin, dark urine)

  • Allergic reactions (rash, swelling, breathing difficulty)

  • Heart issues (shortness of breath, ankle swelling, rapid heartbeat)


Precautions & Warnings:

  • Inform your doctor if you have liver, kidney, or heart problems.

  • Avoid alcohol during treatment.

  • May cause dizziness — avoid driving or operating heavy machinery until you know how it affects you.

  • Monitor liver function if taken long-term.

  • Do not use with certain medications (listed below).


Drug Interactions:

Avorek (Itraconazole) can interact with several medicines, including:

  • Antihistamines (Terfenadine, Astemizole)

  • Certain cholesterol-lowering drugs (Simvastatin, Lovastatin)

  • Heart medicines (Quinidine, Dofetilide)

  • Antacids or acid-reducing agents (may reduce absorption — take 2 hours apart)

  • Rifampicin, Carbamazepine, Phenytoin (may reduce effectiveness)

Always inform your doctor or pharmacist about all medications or supplements you are taking.


Storage/Disposal:

  • Store below 25°C, in a cool, dry place away from sunlight and moisture.

  • Keep out of reach of children.

  • Do not use after the expiry date.

  • Dispose of unused tablets safely — do not flush into drains or throw in regular trash.
