Description

Azit (250mg) Capsules contain Azithromycin, a macrolide antibiotic that fights bacterial infections by stopping bacterial growth and preventing them from multiplying. It is widely prescribed for infections of the throat, lungs, skin, and ear, and for certain sexually transmitted infections.

Uses

Azit 250mg is prescribed for the treatment of:

  • Typhoid fever

  • Sexually transmitted infections (chlamydia, gonorrhea – in adults)


Dosage

⚠️ Always use exactly as prescribed by your doctor.

  • Adults:

    • 500mg once daily for 3 days (or as directed by the physician).

    • For mild infections, 250mg once daily for 5 days.

  • Children:

    • Dose is based on body weight (10mg/kg once daily for 3 days).

  • Route: Oral (by mouth)

  • Take with a full glass of water, preferably 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals.


In Case of Overdose

  • Symptoms may include severe nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and temporary hearing loss.

  • Seek immediate medical attention or contact a poison control center.


Missed Dose

  • Take the missed dose as soon as remembered.

  • If it’s almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed one.

  • Do not double the dose to make up for the missed capsule.


How To Use

  1. Swallow the capsule whole with a full glass of water.

  2. Take on an empty stomach (1 hour before or 2 hours after meals).

  3. Take the medicine at the same time each day.

  4. Complete the full prescribed course, even if symptoms improve early.


When Not to Use

Do not use Azit 250mg if you:

  • Are allergic to azithromycin, erythromycin, or any other macrolide antibiotics.

  • Have severe liver disease or history of jaundice with prior antibiotic use.

  • Have heart rhythm problems (QT prolongation).

  • Are taking medications that can affect heart rhythm (consult your doctor).


Side Effects
