Baritec 40mg Tablets contain Olmesartan Medoxomil, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) used to manage high blood pressure (hypertension).

Baritec 40mg is used for:
Treatment of essential hypertension (high blood pressure)
Reduction of cardiovascular risks (heart attack and stroke prevention)
Kidney protection in hypertensive diabetic patients
Combination therapy with other antihypertensive drugs when needed
Typical Adult Dose: 20mg once daily; may be increased to 40mg once daily if needed.
Maximum Dose: 40mg per day.

Possible Symptoms:

Dizziness, fainting, or weakness
Rapid or irregular heartbeat
What to Do:
Seek immediate medical attention or visit the nearest hospital emergency department.
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember.
If it’s almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one.
Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed tablet.
Take one tablet daily, preferably at the same time.
Can be taken with or without food.
Swallow whole with a glass of water.
Do not crush or chew the tablet.
Continue taking regularly for best results, even if you feel well.
Do not use Baritec 40mg if you have:
Allergy to Olmesartan Medoxomil
Pregnancy (especially 2nd & 3rd trimesters)
Severe kidney or liver impairment
Low blood pressure (hypotension)
Diabetes and are taking aliskiren-containing medicines
Bilateral renal artery stenosis (narrowing of both kidney arteries)
Common Side Effects:
Dizziness or lightheadedness
Headache
Fatigue or weakness
Nausea or mild diarrhea
Less Common:
Cough
Back pain
Muscle cramps
Serious (seek medical help immediately):
Swelling of face, lips, or throat
Difficulty breathing
Signs of kidney issues (reduced urine output, swelling)
Monitor blood pressure regularly.
Avoid use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Use with caution in patients with kidney, liver, or heart disease.
Avoid dehydration; maintain adequate fluid intake.
Do not discontinue medication without consulting your doctor.
Baritec may interact with:
Potassium supplements or potassium-sparing diuretics → risk of high potassium levels
NSAIDs (e.g., ibuprofen, naproxen) → may reduce effectiveness or affect kidneys
Lithium → risk of lithium toxicity
Other antihypertensives → additive blood pressure-lowering effect
Store below 30°C, away from direct light and moisture.
Keep out of reach of children.
Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack.
Dispose of unused or expired tablets safely as advised by your pharmacist.
