Basagine (100IU/ml) Injection contains Insulin Glargine, a long-acting human insulin analog used to control high blood sugar levels in patients with diabetes mellitus (Type 1 and Type 2). It provides steady 24-hour blood glucose control with once-daily dosing and helps reduce the risk of diabetes-related complications such as kidney damage, nerve damage, blindness, and heart disease.
Active Ingredient: Insulin Glargine (100 IU/ml)
Excipients: Zinc chloride, glycerol, hydrochloric acid, sodium hydroxide, and water for injection

⚠️ Dosage is individualized based on blood sugar monitoring, diet, and doctor’s recommendation.
Adults & Children (≥6 years): Usually once daily, at the same time each day.
Can be used in combination with mealtime (short-acting) insulin or oral antidiabetics.
Symptoms: Severe hypoglycemia (sweating, dizziness, confusion, tremors, fainting, seizures).
Management: Immediate oral glucose (sugar, juice) if conscious. Severe cases require IV glucose or glucagon injection in hospital.
Take the missed dose as soon as remembered if within the same day.
If it’s almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one.
Do not double dose. Always consult your doctor if multiple doses are missed.
Inject subcutaneously (under the skin) in the thigh, upper arm, or abdomen.
Rotate injection sites to prevent lipodystrophy (fat tissue changes).
Do not inject into a vein or muscle.
Must be used under medical supervision with regular blood glucose monitoring.
Allergy to insulin glargine or any excipient
Episodes of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar)
Use with caution in patients with liver or kidney impairment
Common:
Injection site reactions (redness, swelling, itching)
Low blood sugar (hypoglycemia)
Weight gain
Serious:
Severe hypoglycemia (seizures, loss of consciousness)
Allergic reactions (rash, difficulty breathing)
Vision changes due to rapid blood sugar improvement
Monitor blood sugar levels regularly
Risk of hypoglycemia increases with missed meals, excess exercise, or alcohol consumption
Dose adjustments may be required in stress, illness, surgery, or pregnancy
Inform doctor about all current medications before starting Basagine
Avoid sharing insulin vials or syringes
Hypoglycemia risk increases with: Oral antidiabetics, salicylates, sulfonamides, ACE inhibitors, MAOIs, alcohol
Hyperglycemia risk increases with: Corticosteroids, oral contraceptives, thyroid hormones, diuretics, sympathomimetics
Store in a refrigerator at 2°C – 8°C. Do not freeze.
Once opened, can be kept at room temperature (below 25°C) for up to 28 days.
Keep away from direct heat and sunlight.
Safely dispose of used vials, needles, and syringes in sharps containers.
