Description

Orno (8mg/2ml) Injection contains Ondansetron, a powerful antiemetic used to prevent and treat nausea and vomiting. It is commonly given to patients undergoing chemotherapy, radiotherapy, or surgery. The medicine works by blocking serotonin (5-HT3) receptors in the brain and gut, which trigger nausea and vomiting reflexes.


Ingredients

  • Active Ingredient: Ondansetron (8mg/2ml)

  • Inactive Ingredients: Sodium chloride, water for injection, and stabilizers

Uses

Dosage

In Case of Overdose

  • Symptoms: Vision disturbances, constipation, severe hypotension, fainting.

  • Emergency medical care required immediately.


Missed Dose

  • If missed during hospital treatment, the healthcare provider will reschedule.

  • Do not take a double dose.


How To Use

  • Administered intravenously (IV) or intramuscularly (IM) by a healthcare professional.

  • Not for self-administration at home.


When Not to Use

  • Known allergy to Ondansetron or similar medicines

  • Patients with congenital long QT syndrome

  • Severe liver disease (dose adjustment required)


Side Effects

  • Common: Headache, dizziness, constipation, injection site pain

  • Less common: Drowsiness, flushing, diarrhea

  • Rare but serious: Irregular heartbeat, allergic reaction, low blood pressure

  • May cause QT prolongation (heart rhythm changes)

  • Can interact with SSRIs, SNRIs (risk of serotonin syndrome)

  • Use caution with medicines affecting heart rhythm (e.g., amiodarone, quinidine)
